As a former multi-practice business owner and dentist, I understand firsthand the complexities of running a dental practice. That’s why I founded Oryx—to simplify the process, automate challenging tasks, and empower dental professionals to focus on what matters most: their patients.
2024: A Year of Expansion, Innovation, & Momentum
In 2024, we made significant strides in realizing this mission, and I’m thrilled to share some of the highlights with you. This past year was a transformative one for Oryx. From expanding our team to rolling out industry-leading features, every milestone brought us closer to our vision of revolutionizing dental practice management.
Expanded Customer Support
One of the most significant areas of growth was in our customer support team, which doubled in size since January. This expansion underscores our dedication to offering unparalleled support and ensuring our clients always have the assistance they need. Our support team blows away industry standards with average ticket response times of <1 hour, satisfaction rates of 90%+, and 98%+ answer rates for support phone calls!
Fastest-Growing & Best-of-Tech Recognition
Another remarkable 2024 achievement: earning a coveted spot on the 2024 Inc. 5000 list. We ranked No. 1776 among the fastest-growing private companies in America, and #24 in Washington, making Oryx the fastest-growing dental practice management software company. Oryx was also honored by DEO Magazine as part of their “Best of Technology” list, further solidifying our position as a leader in dental technology.
New Full-Service RCM Solution
Of course, 2024 wasn’t just about recognition—it was also about innovation. One of the standout developments was the launch of RevGen, our full-service Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) solution that boosts our customers collections by 20% or more. RevGen streamlines billing processes and helps practices maximize financial efficiency, freeing up dental professionals to focus on patient care rather than administrative tasks.
Pediatric Innovation
We spent time understanding the unique needs of pediatric dentists and introduced specialized pediatric tools like pediatric-specific exams, visualized patient forms, and centralized parental communication through our patient portal, and more. These features have already made a meaningful difference in helping pediatric dental practices deliver exceptional care.
Major Product Updates in 2024
Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at Oryx, and this year we rolled out many major product updates designed to enhance efficiency and user experience.
Morning Huddle
For example, our new Morning Huddle feature has become a game-changer for dental practices. This central hub organizes daily tasks and provides direct links to patient information, billing, and treatment plans. Teams can easily filter tasks, switch dates, and choose between task and patient grouping views, making it easier than ever to stay on top of the day’s priorities.
Schedule Cycles
Expanding on our mission to improve team productivity, we introduced Schedule Cycles, which allows practices to customize work schedules with specific start and end dates. This feature accommodates varying weekly patterns, making team scheduling more flexible and efficient. And for team management, our Time Clock tool allows users to track working hours seamlessly, whether clocking in for the day or taking a break.
Pediatric Exams
In response to the growing demand for tailored tools, we introduced a Pediatric Exam feature that provides evidence-based evaluations specifically designed for young patients. This comprehensive tool seamlessly integrates conditions added during the exam in diagnostic opinions, including their associated risks.
Orofacial Airway Screener
Our innovation extended to airway health with the launch of the Orofacial Airway Screener, a new exam type that allows dental professionals to conduct detailed assessments of airway conditions. This tool offers unparalleled flexibility, enabling users to customize exams based on patient needs.
MMS Messaging
Communication was another focus area in 2024. With our new MMS (Mobile Messaging Service), practices can send patient forms via customizable SMS messages, streamlining communication and improving patient engagement. Additionally, our enhanced Lab Communication Tools allow practices to manage lab cases more efficiently with streamlined features. These tools include preset forms, real-time tracking, and color-coded status indicators to simplify the process. Teams can also customize lab slips and print or share them instantly to optimize workflows.
Electronic Prescriptions
Another significant enhancement was the addition of Electronic Prescriptions. Prescriptions generated in MDToolbox now appear automatically in the prescriptions section, saving time and reducing errors.
Enterprise Features
For Dental Support Organizations (DSOs), we introduced several new features to improve collaboration across multiple locations. Our Multi-Location Scheduling tool allows appointments to be scheduled seamlessly across different locations, directly from the schedule page. At the same time, our Treatment Plan Syncing feature ensures that treatment plans can be shared and viewed across practices. Other locations can view the shared treatment and identify where the treatment was initially planned. Additionally, the DSO KPI Dashboard provides enterprise-level analytics, giving DSOs actionable insights to drive their growth.
New Subscription Plans
Finally, we took our customer feedback into account to launch new subscription plans to cater to practices at various stages of their growth journey. Whether transitioning from pen-and-paper systems or leveraging advanced AI capabilities, our tailored plans—Oryx Essential, Oryx Grow, Oryx Comprehensive, and Oryx Enterprise—offer solutions to meet your needs.
2025: A Year of Growth, Customer Engagement, & Automation
This coming year, our vision is to make dental practices more efficient, scalable, and manageable through automation and AI. We are excited to introduce enhanced group practice capabilities, including enterprise analytics and API access, which will allow for custom software integrations. Our team is also working on expanding our AI-powered features, such as AI-driven note-taking and exam charting, to save time and improve accuracy.
At Oryx, we pride ourselves on being both proactive and reactive. We strive to solve problems before they arise while actively listening to customer feedback to shape our product roadmap. As the CEO, I personally engage with users through our dedicated Facebook group, ensuring that concerns are heard and addressed promptly. It’s important to me to be able to review direct feedback and use it to shape the future of Oryx.
